WILDLIFE JOURNALISM
WEEK
April 2022
Over the course of a week, we transformed young people into Wildlife Journalists. They learnt lots of different journalistic skills each day - including film, photography, podcasting and writing articles - and were guided in how to create content that amplifies their voices and helps them to articulate their experiences.
We partnered with our friends at the National Trust to make the programme wildlife-focused, incorporating lots of adventures in nature, such as bug hunting, river dipping, bush crafts and orienteering. In addition to this, we provided a variety of wellness activities - such as gong meditation, sound bathing etc - and physical activities - such as circuit training, outdoor sports, parachute games etc.
We also took a number of excursions to local spaces, such as Polka Theatre, Deen City Farm and local football club, Tooting and Mitcham.
The week culminated in an exhibition of our work for parents.
A hot meal and healthy snacks were provided each day.
